A park in Columbiana has reopened its sports courts following renovations.

Firestone Park held a grand opening for the new sports courts Wednesday afternoon.

The $5.5 million project took about seven years to complete.

Community members can now use the completely renovated basketball and tennis courts and the new pickleball courts.

"Firestone is very historic and important and it experienced a few years where it was not cared for as well as it could have been. Our committee got together and decided to rescue it and the people of the community seem happy that we're doing that," said Pat Tingle of the Firestone Park Restoration and Beautification Committee.

A Chick-fil-A food truck was also part of the grand opening with part of their proceeds going to the Firestone committee.
