Kids will have to wait a couple of extra days before they can begin enjoying a new spot to cool off in Warren this summer.

City leaders had planned to cut the ribbon Thursday on Packard Park’s new Splash Pad. However, due to weather concerns, the ceremony and the opening of the pad have been delayed.

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 behind Packard Music Hall, located at 1703 Mahoning Ave NW.

Following the ceremony, the splash pad will remain open daily from 11 AM to 7 PM through Labor Day.

Plans for the splash pad, the city's first, began nearly two-and-a-half years ago. It was supposed to open a year ago, but the opening was delayed due to pandemic restrictions.
