UPDATE: Boardman Police used tasers on suspect three times
Police say they used tasers on a suspect three times while arresting him during an incident in which three Boardman Police Officers were injured.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the parking lot at Days Inn and Suites on South Avenue.
Officers say they found 36-year-old Julie Wagner of Akron crying, and 30-year-old Shawn Drogus of New Castle watching nearby.
Police say Drogus became argumentative when they told him to leave the area and got involved in a scuffle with officers
Three officers say they fired their taser into Drogus during the melee, where Drogus allegedly kicked or punched three officers several times. One officer suffered a broken wrist and another had a head injury, according to police, who claim Drogus also attempted to reach for one of the officer's gun.
Drogus' brother, 30-year-old Shane Drogus, also of New Castle, was charged with obstructing officials' business for allegedly trying to interfere with Shawn's arrest.
Police say that during the scuffle a crowd of ten onlookers had gathered.
While Julie Wagner was being evaluated by an ambulance crew, she allegedly bit an EMT's finger. Wagner was placed under arrest for Assault and transported to Mercy Health in Youngstown. A police hold has been placed on Wagner.
The two brothers are scheduled for arraignment in count court in Boardman on Tuesday.
Although the arrests took place in the Days Inn lot, police say the suspects had been staying at the nearby Holiday Inn.
Boardman, Struthers, Poland, Mill Creek Park Police, as well as the Cardinal Joint Fire District, were among the agencies responding.
