Youngstown already has half of $82.7M it's set to get in COVID relief

The city of Youngstown has started the process of figuring out how to spend the millions of dollars it's getting from the American Rescue Plan.
$82.7 million dollars in coronavirus relief is coming to Youngstown, and the city says it already has half of that money.
Meetings were underway Thursday and will continue Friday to go over how to possibly spend it. The meetings are including city leaders, community partners, neighborhood groups and local businesses.
The city is also looking for community input on how to spend the millions through a survey, which can be completed online.
When it comes to suggestions so far, city leaders say they've gotten broad responses, including things like money for police, fresh food access, infrastructure, parks and green space as well as broadband access.
The Mahoning Valley College Access Program said they're going to ask money to be used to create a big comprehensive program for 6-12 grade school kids to develop job training and career skills ahead of time.
The Boys and Girls Club is asking for money to create a neighborhood hub green space on the south side for community engagement.
