Concert venues and the entertainment industry have been one of the hardest-hit industries by the coronavirus pandemic.

The industry has had one of the highest unemployment rates during the pandemic, but for Ohio venues, there is light at the end of the tunnel following announcements made by Governor DeWine Wednesday evening.

When the health orders end on June 2nd, venues can return to full capacity.

Owner and President of JAC Management Eric Ryan told 21 News that he's been waiting for this day for 15 months.

"We've been waiting for this day for 15 months now and just to be able to open up for business again, to be mandated out of business for so long and now to have the opportunity to book some concerts and make some memories for people, we're very, very excited," said Ryan.

JAC Management, which operates and books for the Covelli Centre, Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and Packard Music Hall, is trying to book as many shows as possible for the area.

Ryan says they've been at the office all night and will work long hours over the next few weeks trying to get as many shows booked as possible.

He hopes to have workers at the venues back on the job soon. Ryan told 21 News that 50% of Covelli Centre employees are still laid off.

Ryan says he hopes people that have been cooped up for months are ready to make the decision to come back to venues. He says the amount of space at the Amphitheatre should help people feel safe.
