Veteran boys basketball coach John Cullen is expected to be back on the court later this year as an assistant to new Springfield head coach Jeff Brink.

"I've known Jeff for a long time and if everything works out, I'll be an assistant there," Cullen told 21 Sports.

The veteran coach spent the last eight seasons at South Range and prior to that was at Canfield and Brookfield.

He spent three seasons with the Youngstown State Women's basketball program under former coach Bob Bolden.

Cullen has 597 wins in his 40 year head coaching career and would love to get number 600.

"You never know what can happen," said Cullen about one day returning as a head coach.
