A man from New Castle and a woman from Mercer were killed in a head-on crash in Lawrence County early Friday.
State Police say a Kia Soul being driven by a 38-year-old Jessica Allen of Mercer went left of center on Harlansburg Road in Scott Township, running into an oncoming Jeep Cherokee being driven by 45-year-old Timothy Croup of New Castle.
The crash was so violent, the engine from one of the vehicles flew into a yard.
Police say neither driver was wearing a seat belt. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed until an accident investigation team finished gathering evidence.
