Services are scheduled this weekend for a Girard truck driver who died when his tractor-trailer plummeted from a bridge along the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

According to State Police, the tandem tractor-trailer being driven by 49-year-old Charles Edward Hopper struck a guardrail and bridge abutment in Bensalem Township on Saturday.

The tractor and first trailer went over a barrier, falling 40 feet to a creek below.

Hopper was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to his obituary, Hopper was a driver for Estes Express Lines in West Middlesex.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m at the funeral home.
