Inmate accused of having 'shank' in Youngstown private prison
A man already sentenced for his part in a conspiracy to distribute dangerous drugs is now accused of hiding a shank in his cell at the private prison in Youngstown.
Lindsey Carter, 30, has been charged with possessing contraband in prison, according to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court.
A U.S. Marshal says a corrections officer at the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center uncovered a sharp, eight-inch-long piece of metal concealed in a Q-tip box during a search of Carter’s cell in February.
One end of the shank was wrapped in a tee shirt to act as a handle, according to the affidavit.
Lindsey, who was sentenced to a 41-month prison term in December, is scheduled to make an initial video appearance on the contraband charge in U.S. District Court on Thursday.
