Approximately 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 4 children in the Mahoning Valley could experience food insecurity in 2021 due to the ongoing economic fallout from COVID-19.

That is why Walmart and Sam's Club are supporting Feeding America's nationwide network of food banks, including Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley through the Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign.

Now in its eighth year, the campaign has been a way for Walmart and Sam's Club to partner with suppliers, customers and members to help provide food to people in need.

The Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign will run in stores and online from April 5 until May 3, 2021.

There are three easy ways for customers and members to participate:

· Donate at the check-out in stores and clubs, or at either www.FeedingAmerica.org/Walmart or www.FeedingAmerica.org/SamsClub.
· Round-up at check-out on Walmart.com and the Walmart app.
· For every participating product purchased in-store or online at Walmart.com or SamsClub.com, the supplier will donate the monetary equivalent of at least one meal ($0.10) on behalf of a Feeding America member food bank at Walmart and five meals ($0.50) at Sam's Club, up to applicable limits. See specially marked packages for full details.

"The Mahoning Valley has faced a number of challenges this past year and we have worked hard to serve our neighbors in their time of need. Walmart and Sam's Club have been a true partner in this effort," stated Mike Iberis, Executive Director for the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley continues to work hard to meet the demand for food assistance in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The Food Bank increased its distribution by over 4 million pounds of food during 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

Last year, Second Harvest Food Bank received a total $46,507.00 from Walmart and Sam's Club's commitment to help fight hunger through this campaign.
