A Wellsville, Ohio man died in a crash in Portage County on Wednesday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say 35-year-old Zachary Cochran died at around 8:30 a.m. when the Ford Focus he was driving was struck by a Chrysler 300 that was traveling in the oncoming lane of State Route 14 to avoid a tractor-trailer that had stopped in front of the Chrysler to turn onto Lake Rockwell Road.

The driver of the Chrysler, 81-year-old William Nagle of Twinsburg, Ohio was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that troopers say are not life-threatening.

Cochran was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident is still under investigation, but troopers say driver impairment does not appear to be a factor.

State Route 14 was closed in the area for several hours.
