Family mourn death of 89-year-old shooting victim

It was 7:30 on a Sunday night, 89-year-old Ruth Lewis was sitting in the living room of her family's home on Starlite street when all of a sudden, shots rang out. Her family panicked.
"We're really hurt," said Ryanna Brantley, granddaughter of the victim.
Her grandchildren tell 21 News they had just left the house to grab something to eat but then they found out about the chaos that took place on their street.
"We went to Caesar's down the street," Brantley said. "And we seen 3 police cars so we called to check what was going on and then it caught us that, they just shot the house up," she said.
As police are still trying to piece together the reason behind this tragedy, we do know the 89-year-old woman was not the intended target. As for the family, they've all gathered to comfort one another.
"I did her hair this yesterday morning and she gave me a hug, it was the last memories I had with her," Brantley said.
That same day, early, early in the morning, around 8 o'clock, something told me to get up and go kiss everybody in the house," said Rakayla Lightning, granddaughter of the victim.
"I went to go kiss my grandmother my sister, my mom, and that was the last memory I had with my grandmother," she said.
Warren police officers declined to talk on camera about the details of the investigation. 21 News was told, however, that they have a lot of leads and will be releasing a statement soon.
