Youngstown police and city council members held a virtual meeting to discuss the idea of having a Citizens Review Board.

The idea is that citizens will review complaints of police officers while on duty or acting in a police capacity.

Chief Carl Davis says he's open to having a review board but needs more details.

Councilwoman Anita Davis wants to move forward with the idea within the next few months.

Councilman Jimmy Hughes says they need to be aware of every aspect involved with a review board, like when and how often the board will step in.

"There's a lot of conduct by police officers everyday. Almost everything they do is conduct," said Hughes. "So, what I'm saying is if the city chooses not to investigate, there's nothing to review. But if you're talking about reviewing every conduct of police and letting the review board settle that...it can be complex," he said.

Council members also want to get input from people living in Youngstown, but in the meantime, they will create a draft for what the board will look like.
