Mom charged as children found alone at Warren home for second time
A Warren woman is now facing ten counts of child endangering after two separate incidents in the same month.
Brayasha Clark, 27, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on the most recent charges, which stem from a 911 call from one of her young children saying they had been left alone.
Warren Police found the children left home alone for a second time this month. This time, officers reported signs of possible neglect and abuse.
Shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday night, dispatchers got several 9-1-1- calls from a child who said there was no adult at home.
Police went to the apartment on the 1300 block of Fifth Street and after hearing a child crying, went inside where they found six children ages 1,2,3,4,5, and six inside.
The four youngest children were wearing diapers that needed to be changed, according to the police report.
The oldest child was unable to contact her mother on a cell phone she had, but was able to reach a 12-year-old child.
The children told police were under the impression the mother left them alone so she could get a hotel room so they could go swimming.
Police said they saw scars and marks on the children, leading them to believe that the children have been suffering abuse over an extended period.
The children told police that their mother struck them pushed them into a wall, causing one child to lose a couple of teeth.
One of the children claimed that their mother pinches them and the infant is at times placed in a closet.
“I removed trash from the infant’s mouth while waiting on CSB,” reported an officer.
The officer said the infant was being cared for by the six-year-old, who said she has to hold the baby most of the time, so he doesn’t cry.
Mahoning County Children’s Services, which already has an open case on the family, turned the children over to a relative.
Clark was already facing four counts of child endangering from a February 2 incident when police found four of the children home alone after someone spotted one of them “hanging out” of a window.
She is now facing six additional counts for this latest incident.
