Rescue Mission reaches halfway point in fundraising goal
Officials are making progress in their efforts to build a new Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. They have nearly half of the money raised that's needed to fund the building's furniture and appliances.
With the project estimated to be completed sometime this summer, the fundraising campaign called 'Supply Our Shelter' is asking for funding to help the building's interior.
With the pandemic continuing to take a hit on donors, the Rescue Mission is still reaching for about $750,000 more in funding.
"If they want to be good stewards of their money and see what they're giving to, I would love for folks to come down and take a tour," said John Muckridge, CEO/president of the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley. "I'd be glad to show folks around the building and show folks what the Lord's been doing during this project."
Events like '2 Run 4 Mattresses' have raised about $7,000 for the Rescue Mission to fund the new building's mattresses.
"Everything that we have at this point has been given to us by the Lord through the gracious generosity of the community," Muckridge said.
As of Tuesday, over $750,000 has been raised in the campaign.
"We actually only need $740,529 dollars to get us across the finish line and for this entire project to be completely funded," Muckridge said.
