Two thousand COVID-19 vaccine appointments today for Walberg Family Pharmacies. Some patients waited for more than two hours at First Assembly of God Church. The pharmacy says they believe their quick action distribution granted them a large number of doses.

"When we receive the vaccine, we immunize," said Bretton Walberg, co-owner of Walberg Family Pharmacies. "We literally received the doses yesterday at 10 o'clock in the morning, and we turned around at seven o'clock the next morning, and we're immunizing two thousand people," he said.

If you think two thousand doses is a lot, you'd be shocked at how many they received in total.

"We received 9,750 doses yesterday and today where we're going to be administering those across Mercer County, Crawford County, Lawrence County, and Clarion County, all in the next five days," said Walberg.

Although vaccine rollout seemed to be working quite well for the pharmacy, they've been facing a few challenges, including the cold weather and registrants who slow the process down by coming in too soon.

"Everybody that is here has a set time schedule. Unfortunately, people are coming early, prior to their time, which is causing a problem. We really need you to adhere to the scheduled time of your appointment," Wlaberg said.

After finally getting through the long lines, patients were more than happy to have their dose of the vaccine.

"I'm just grateful to be able to get the vaccine and hopefully stay healthy," said Hermitage resident Cindy Wombacker.

Walberg Family Pharmacies plans to distribute vaccines Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
