Fire destroys Howland home

A house in Howland was deemed a total loss after catching fire Tuesday evening.
According to dispatchers the house located in the 3400 block of Birchwood Avenue NE, caught fire around 5:10 p.m.
Dispatchers say the first 911 call was made by a 14-year-old who lived in the home.
Fire officials believe the fire started in a back corner bedroom.
Fire crews said they made an aggressive interior attack with heavy fire and smoke conditions and gained control within minutes after entry.
The four people inside and their pets were able to make it out safely.
No injuries were reported.
Neighboring departments assisted in putting out the blaze included Bazetta, Cortland, Warren City, and Champion
The American Red Cross has been contacted to help the family.
An investigation into the official cause of the fire is underway, but fire officials said it could be accidental.
