This Black History Month, 21 News wants to highlight local Black artists and their work. We caught up with a young man who says his art represents who he is.

"It's just about multiple personalities within me," said Nasir Watson-Walker. "This is a very personal piece," he said referring to his large orange painting of two other young men.

Nasir has accomplished getting some of his work featured in the McDonough Museum of Art.

He tells 21 News that he found his inspiration for a lot of his artwork through things we're seeing everyday.

Black Lives Matter protests and feeling lonely due to isolation during the pandemic, were major factors in a few of his pieces.

Throughout his career, Nasir has found his artistic abilities to be quite versatile.

"I'm bit of a Renaissance artist so I usually paint and I do photography," said Nasir. "I do documentary style photography and I'm more of an abstract painter," he said.

He hopes his work will find its way to the biggest museums in the world.
