Kent State staff salaries restored after forced pandemic cuts
Kent State University staff salaries will be fully restored after expected revenue loss early in the COVID-19 pandemic caused a budget crunch.

Kent State University staff salaries will be fully restored after expected revenue loss early in the COVID-19 pandemic caused a budget crunch.
The salary restoration was announced by the university president Wednesday.
Initial budget cuts were announced in May of 2020.
The board previously approved a salary adjustment model for the 2021 fiscal year.
The cuts included reductions for most employees with those earning $150,000-$199,999 taking a 7% adjustment followed by a 5% adjustment for those earning between $100,000-$149,999, a 4% adjustment for those making between $50,000-$99,999 and a 2% adjustment for those earning $38,000-$49,999. There was not a reduction for those earning less than $38,000.
"When the pandemic forced us to revise our budget in June, you did your part by accepting a reduced salary – a sacrifice that helped Kent State balance the budget and remain fiscally strong," said University President Todd Diacon. "We are now able to fully restore all wages back to what they were on June 30, 2020."
In addition, Diacon says all wage amounts affected by the salary reduction will be restored retroactively from July 1, 2020.
Diacon continued, "Members of our Cabinet and I will donate all or a portion of our restored salaries to the Kent State Scholarship Fund and to other scholarship funds,"
