Mahoning Habitat For Humanity buys former church for new headquarters

Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley (HFHMV) recently purchased a former Youngstown Church as its new headquarters.
The property located at 1919 E. Midlothian Boulevard is the past home of Faith Community Covenant Church.
The building will become HFHMV's administrative offices as well as house the entire construction operation and be a source for the community to gain knowledge on homeownership.
Executive Director, Scott Taylor said, "The vision of this building is to create a central hub of resources to all three counties we serve in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties. Valuable resources will be provided in training and workshops that will assist our Habitat homeowners as well as the Mahoning Valley community in taking care of major aspects of their life and their home that will include: financial budget counseling, home maintenance classes, a tool library, community rooms, and so much more."
HFHMV plans to begin renovations immediately.
Administration offices will move from their current location next to the Struthers ReStore, and construction operations have been spread between warehouses in Struthers as well as Salem.
The goal for the program will be to have things run more efficiently for the non-profit organization.
Director of Development, Kristina Nicholas said, "This acquisition is exciting especially to kick off 2021 on a positive step. This centralized hub will impact and benefit the community in many ways through services and training. It also allows us to build stronger so we can increase the families served through our homeownership and repair programs."
Being able to purchase this building was possible through a legacy gift made from a Trumbull county donor who left HFHMV a substantial donation through his estate.
Dr. Rudy Lee, the donor, believed in the Habitat mission and had volunteered on construction sites at one time
