1996: A pediatrician at Tod Children's Hospital asks physicians and parents to be alert for signs of Reye's syndrome in the wake of what is believed to be the first local case in about 15 years.
Delphi Packard Electric systems in Warren is making all the wiring harnesses for General Motors new EV-1 electric vehicles.
St. Joseph Health Center in Warren reaches an agreement to move all of its operations from the city's West Side to the former Warren General Hospital building on the East Side.

1946: The Greater Youngstown Growth Foundation has raised $150,000 toward a $250,000 goal. The money will be used to encourage new industry, better parking facilities, the lake-to-river canal and slum removal.
The mercury climbed to 63 degrees in Youngstown at 2 p.m., breaking a record set in 1917.
