For PennDOT workers in Pennsylvania, they are working hard to combat the winter weather conditions Wednesday night.

In Mercer County, crews did not pretreat the roads, but they will be out on the roads continuously and have been since the snow began.

Thirty-four routes are being covered, with all trucks out on the roads until the snow stops.

On Interstate 80 across the state, there are vehicle restrictions in place.

Under Level 1 restrictions, the following vehicles are not permitted on affected roadways:

·         Tractors without trailers;

·         Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers;

·         Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers;

·         Enclosed cargo delivery trucks that meet the definition of a CMV;

·         Passenger vehicles (cars, SUV’s, pickup trucks, etc.) towing trailers;

·         Recreational vehicles/motorhomes;

·         School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches; and motorcycles.

As for Lawrence County, PennDOT crews did start pre-treating the roads since 4 a.m. Wednesday morning and have a crew working until midnight.

That's when another crew will be headed in to keep working until the snow tapers off.
