A Lowellville man spent the weekend in jail after his uncle told deputies he allegedly stole his pickup truck then ran his uncle off the road as he tried to stop him.

Twenty-nine-year-old Michael Seidita faces three counts of aggravated vehicular assault and auto theft following his arrest on Saturday.

A 46-year-old North Jackson man told deputies that he saw his nephew hop into his 2000 Dodge Ram and drive away from his Palmyra Road home.

The uncle said he got into his work truck and began following the Dodge, trying to block the fleeing truck.

As the uncle tried to drive in front of his stolen truck, he said his nephew swerved into his work truck, forcing him off the road.

The chase led to Herbert Road where the uncle said he swerved into the stolen truck, forcing it into a yard.

The chase ended, according to the uncle when Seidita drove the stolen Dodge into the work truck.

The uncle said he broke a window on the truck, reached inside, and shifted the transmission into park.

He tied a rope around Seidita's waist to detain him until deputies could arrive.
