No new talks scheduled as East Liverpool nurse strikes nears end

The union representing the nurses at East Liverpool Hospital will end its three-day strike Tuesday morning, but with no new talks scheduled, it's not clear what the next steps may be.
The strike, which began Saturday morning after contract talks came to a halt last week, is scheduled to end at 6:59 a.m. Tuesday morning.
A representative for the Ohio Nurses Association, Bob Cousins, told 21 News there have been no new developments since the strike began.
"Management has not accepted any of the unions proposed dates for continued negotiations," Cousins said in an email.
A spokesperson for the hospital issued a statement Monday saying they hope to reach an agreement soon, but also saying that patient care has not been impacted by the strike.
"We are grateful to our staff who came to work and to the replacement nurses who are providing excellent care and service to members of our community," the statement reads.
The union, which represents 120 nurses at the hospital, says they've been unable to come to an agreement over wages since their contract expired June 1.
