A Youngstown woman has been charged in connection with a gunshot fired inside the Boardman Sam’s Club over the weekend.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 31-year-old Amanda Sue Carr, who has been charged with one count of child endangering.
According to a police report, Karr owned the 9 mm handgun that was fired late Saturday morning in the checkout area of the store.
The woman told police her child found the firearm in a concealed compartment of her purse, deactivated the gun safety, and fired the pistol.
Police say the woman, who has a concealed carry permit, was turned towards her husband and away from her child in the shopping cart.
Officers collected bullet fragments into evidence as well as fragments from a gray shopping cart that was struck from the store.
A woman in the store reported to police she was struck in the leg by an object but did not have any visible injuries.
A Sam's Club employee also reported feeling pain in the middle of her right thigh at the time of the shooting, but again had no visible injuries and refused transport to the hospital.
