The Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley received 15,000 pounds of food through a donation from multiple companies Tuesday.

Tyson donated 10,000 pounds of meat and Bimbo Bakeries USA donated 5,000 pounds of bread.

The donation equates to 12,500 meals and will help those struggling with hunger in the area.

This is the fourth year in a row that Walmart, Bimbo Bakeries USA and Tyson Foods have joined forces to make donations to food banks.

Representatives from each organization were at Second Harvest to deliver the food.

"The summer months are always a struggle for food banks, with children out of school and donations lighter because of vacations, said Mike Iberis, executive director, Second Harvest Food Bank. "2020 has been extra difficult because of the coronavirus pandemic. We're seeing more families - those who never thought they'd be in this situation - coming in for help."
