YSU starting a new scholarship in memory of Richard "Dick" McLaughlin

Youngstown State University is starting up a scholarship in memory of Richard "Dick" McLaughlin.
In addition to the scholarship, the family of McLaughlin is donating his personal collection of political buttons. The family made a shadow box to be donated to the Political Science Department of YSU. The collection includes the buttons of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Walter Mondale, Richard Nixon, Gary Hart, and others.
Mr. McLauglin is a graduate of YSU and was involved in many different programs within the University. After he graduated from YSU, Mr. McLaghlin was on the board of Trustees for 9 years and was the chairman for 2 years. He was also on the alumni board, taught at YSU, was a trustee emeritus, and ran for Congress twice. He's been involved since the '50s and was an attorney for Youngstown.
His daughter Molly Burdette, who is a program coordinator and Academic Advisor of the General Studies Program at YSU said "He's a generous, kind and funny guy. Most of us kids take after him in one way or another. Just a good guy".
