North Jackson Police, the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating an incident where an officer was dragged by a car.

The incident happened at 2501 S Salem-Warren Road Wednesday evening.

According to North Jackson Police Chief Greg Taillon, the officer made a routine traffic stop and briefly spoke with the suspect.

Chief Taillon told 21 News that the suspect then grabbed the male officer and dragged the officer several feet before the officer was able to fall away from the car.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene and is still on the loose. 

Police have not released a description of the vehicle at this point as they are still investigating.

The officer was transported to the hospital with injuries.
