Grove City College has been awarded a grant by the Richard King Mellon Foundation to invest in health and safety measures to protect students and employees during the coronavirus pandemic.

The $210,000 grant will help offset unexpected costs due to the pandemic.

The foundation has provided more than $2.5 million in grants to 12 regional colleges and universities to help cover pandemic-related costs.

"This grant is a great help in offsetting unexpected costs incurred over the last six months, and we are incredibly grateful to the Richard King Mellon Foundation for its support. The foundation's continuing commitment to higher education as an essential service to the local community, region, and state is evident by its generosity and willingness to support the College during a challenging season," Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty said.

Grove City College students came back to campus for classes on Monday, August 24.

Current guidelines require students to wear masks in most public places with social distancing recommended.
