The Boardman School Board hired Terry Armstrong Monday evening as the district's new treasurer.

Armstrong's employment by the district will be effective August 31, 2020, through July 31, 2023.

He will replace Nicholas Ciarniello, who resigned at Monday's Board meeting.

Ciarniello has accepted a position with a suburban Cleveland school district.

Armstrong resides in Warren and is a life-long resident of the Mahoning Valley.

He currently serves as the Treasurer of Newton Falls School District.

Armstrong has 14 years of education experience, serving as a teacher, a principal, and most recently as Lordstown Schools Superintendent for six years.

He also has experience in public finance as well as the private sector.

"We are excited to welcome Mr. Armstrong to the Spartan team. His previous experience, skills, and talent will be a great asset to the Boardman Schools," said Board President Vickie Davis. "We look forward to a smooth transition as we plan for a school year, unlike any other."

Board members were also quick to thank Ciarniello for his hard work and dedication to the district.

"Nick helped to guide us through some difficult financial times in these last three years, and he has done the job well and with passion," said Jeff Barone. "We will continue to look for every efficiency as we focus on providing the best possible education for our students in the safest manner possible."
