Two men were booked into the Mahoning County Jail Tuesday after their homes were searched as part of a child pornography investigation.

Marshals, deputies, and police got warrants to search the Oak Trace home of Robert Basic, and the Nassau Court home of Ryan Marenkovic. The Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force also got search warrants for the two homes.

The investigation involves two iPhones allegedly pawned by Marenkovic at a shop in Austintown.

According to a police report, when police questioned Marenkovic, he denied downloading child pornography.

Police say Basic was “unsure” if a phone he sold to Marenkovic contained child pornography.

Marenkovic, 44, is charged with two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, and possessing criminal tools.

Bond for Basic, who turned 44 today, was booked into jail on one count pandering obscenity involving a minor.

"Child pornography never goes away in the internet age- it is easy to copy an multiplies in the darkness. But child pornographers victimize no children in prison," said Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost.

Laptops, phones, and other evidence gathered during the searches have been turned over to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation Forensics Lab.

Investigators say more charges could be filed once experts look through the evidence.

Bond for each man was set at $25,000 during their video arraignment on Wednesday.
