Police release name of Warren man killed in police confrontation

Warren Police have identified the man who died during a police-involved shooting early Tuesday.
Police Chief Eric Merkel told 21 News that David Lee Rigg died in a shooting after police were called to a home on Hamilton Street Southwest.
According to court records, Rigg, 44, lived at the address where the shooting occurred.
The Trumbull County Coroner was conducting an autopsy on Tuesday.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called in to gather evidence following what authorities confirm is a deadly officer-involved shooting Warren.
Just after midnight, dozens of police cars from several different departments converged the area of Hamilton Street Southwest and Delaware Avenue Southwest.
Officers from Howland, Warren, Lordstown, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office were there.
Police records show that officers were called to the address on Hamilton Avenue to investigate a report of an assault and domestic violence. Detectives have not yet released that report.
The area was roped off with crime scene tape for seven hours while BCI investigated.
According to the Ohio Attorney General's website, BCI's Crime Scene Unit helps local law enforcement process felony crime scenes for physical evidence.
No police officers were injured.
