Fire destroys Columbiana County church

Fire crews from Ohio and Pennsylvania spent Monday morning battling a fire that destroyed a historic church and cemetery in Columbiana County.
A call came in just after 1 a.m. from someone reporting a fire at what was described as an old church near the East Palestine Country Club in Carmel Achor Road.
The first firefighter to arrive reported that the fire was fully involved and the building had collapsed.
In addition to firefighters from Negley, departments from Rogers, East Palestine, New Waterford, and South Beaver in Pennsylvania were called out to help battle the flames and haul water.
By the time the fire was put out, only a pile of charred rubble remained.
According to property records, the building is the former home of the Valley of Achor Baptist Church and cemetery.
There are no reports of injuries.
Investigators are looking for the cause of the fire.
