A Youngstown man is facing charges following a series of armed robberies in the area.

According to the release, 18-year-old Melvin Lee Jackson allegedly committed armed robberies in Youngstown, Struthers and Boardman.

The incidents happened in December 2019 over a five-day period.

The release alleges that Jackson and other suspects held store employees at gunpoint at a Speedway in Boardman on December 17, taking $381 during the robbery.

On December 19, Jackson and others allegedly demanded money from a Youngstown Subway and held the employees at gunpoint, leaving with another $381.

A third armed robbery occurred at a Kwik Fill in Struthers where Jackson allegedly took $3,400 in cash and $261 in lottery tickets.

Jackson faces three counts of interference with commerce by means of robbery and two counts of using or carrying, and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
