Just a week after opening for the season, three Cedar Point employees have tested positive for COVID-19, according to officials from the amusement park.

Cedar Point Director of Communications Tony Clark did not directly respond to a 21 News inquiry as to whether the employees had been in contact with any park goers and has any effort been made to notify those with whom they may have been in contact.

Clark issued the following statement:

“Cedar Point adheres to CDC and Erie County Health Department guidelines regarding screening and contact tracing. The affected employees were screened, as per usual, prior to park opening and prior to reporting to their work locations. Out of respect for the privacy of our associates, we do not provide details of any individual's health status.”

Cedar Point opened later than usual this season because of Ohio’s Stay at Home edict put in place to stem the tide of coronavirus.

The park is limiting the number of people being admitted and has other health precautions in place.
