A Mercer County man has been brought Ohio to face charges following an investigation conducted by the Human Trafficking Task Force in Mahoning County.

William Ice, 38, of Jackson Center, Pa was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police last week on a warrant issued in connection with a June 30 incident in Ohio.

Ice was arraigned Monday afternoon in Austintown Court on charges of assault on a police officer, failure to comply with a police order, obstructing official business, possessing criminal tools, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and importuning.

Ice is accused of trying to meet up with what he believed to be an underage child for sex. The meeting was actually a part of an operation through the Mahoning County sheriff's department. When Ice realized he was going to be arrested, he allegedly fled in his vehicle, nearly striking two officers and leading them on a brief chase.

According to police he nearly ran over an officer, before colliding head-on with a Pennsylvania state trooper's cruiser. The US Marshalls Service later put him under arrest that day.

"These social media apps are breeding grounds for adults looking for children, in a lot of cases, I'm not saying the whole app, but in a lot of cases, there are adults going on these different apps looking for children. Educate your children about it let them know there are people like this, review their iPad or their iPhone, their chats, who they're talking to, basically educating the juvenile," says Jeff Allen, Mahoning County Human Trafficking Force Commander.

Court records name the investigator as William Sosnosky of the Mahoning County Sheriff's department.

William Ice's next court date is set for August 12th.
