Suspect nabbed after 100 mph police chase through Warren
A Warren man is in jail, accused of leading police on a high-speed car chase and foot pursuit from downtown Warren to the Southeast side of the city.
An officer said he began chasing a Dodge Charger with its headlights just after midnight early Tuesday at South Street and Highland Avenue.
According to a police report, the car raced east on South Avenue at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, past police headquarters where the speed limit is 35 miles per hour.
The pursuit slowed down to 70 mph in a residential neighborhood on Oak Knoll Avenue SE, where the speed limit is 25 mph.
Police say the driver bailed out of the car on Colonial Street SE and other officers joined in a foot chase.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Marlan Williams, was arrested a couple of blocks away on Woodbine Ave. SE.
He was booked into the county jail on charges of failure to obey a police order and driving with a suspended license.
