Agent: Valley football star visiting family during Youngstown raid
The agency representing Youngstown native, football standout and NFL draft pick Lynn Bowden, Jr. has issued a statement clarifying earlier reports regarding a raid at a Youngstown home where he was present.
Element Sports Group tweeted that Bowden was a guest, along with his son, at a family member's house at the time a search warrant was served Wednesday morning.
Agents tell 21 News that although no arrests were made after the search of a home on Youngstown's North Side on Wednesday, the search is part of a larger investigation being conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Youngstown Police, along with agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Marshals, searched the two-story home on the 200 block of Superior Street at around 9 a.m.
Investigators brought guns and a box containing evidence from the home but did not reveal more information.
Earlier reports indicated the home may have belonged to Bowden, however 21 News has verified through the Mahoning county auditor's web site that Bowden does not own the home, nor is it listed as his address on popular online directory Whitepages.com.
