According to a manager at the Boardman Walmart, the store has closed for the rest of the business day Monday, but the store will reopen tomorrow at its regular opening time of 7 a.m. No reason for the closing was given.

According to Boardman chief of police Todd Werth, there are no current issues or demonstrations taking place within Boardman township as of 1:30 p.m. Monday, but Werth did say that the police department would remain vigilant and carefully monitor any issues from potential demonstrations that have taken place since the death of George Floyd, who died while being arrested in Minneapolis last week.

Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was arrested four days after Floyd’s fatal arrest and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
