Keystone Safari in Grove City reopens for daily drive-thru tours
There's some good news for families wanting to get out of the house and do something fun Memorial Day Weekend.
Keystone Safari in Grove City has reopened for daily drive-thru tours.
Because Mercer County still remains in the Yellow Phase of the governor's reopening plan, the zoo and adventure park has temporarily switched from a walk-through tour to vehicles only.
Guests are not permitted to exit their vehicles except to use the restrooms or visit the gift shop.
"The park was designed over the past several years with an emphasis on large and open spaces," said facility director and designer, Adam Guiher. "We initially planned big for the benefit of the animals, but also for safety and accessibility reasons. Now we can use that infrastructure to provide a fun and educational family activity, while most family activities remain closed."
In addition to the tours, Keystone Safari is also preparing to open a new section with 90 acres of wooded and open spaces for guests to tour beginning in June.
There will be around 25 additional species, including some guests can feed such as bison, wild cattle, deer, antelope and domestic species.
Guiher said that many more events and activities at the park will wait to resume until Mercer County enters the Green Phase.
Business hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets on the park's website found here.
