MCCTC and Valley STEM staff deliver to families in need
For 30 employees from the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, MCCTC has another meaning.
Staff from the MCCTC staff and Valley STEM Academy have teamed up to form the (M)aking (C)aring (C)ontributions (T)o the (C)ommunity group.
The team is delivering food and other daily needs to their students and families in need during the coronavirus crisis.
“We have over 900 students in our building that come from all over Mahoning County and beyond. We noticed that many are struggling right now and wanted to help in any way we can.” said Mara Banfield, Career Tech Director.
Students were asked to fill out questionnaires to find out their needs.
Two days a week, staff members personally deliver food, toiletries, gas cards, and baked goods to families in need.
To date, there have been close to 100 families that have received donations from all over the county.
“What makes this unique is the large area we cover due to the fact that we have students that come from 14 different school districts.” Banfield said, “Not to mention all of our donations have been from our staff, their families, and the MCCTC Foundation.”
