Sharon man facing child porn charges

The Sharon Police Department has filed charges against a man they say possessed over 400 items of child pornography.
Nicholas Dano Jr., 49, is facing charges of eight counts possession of child pornography, and eight counts of criminal use of a communication facility.
All 16 counts are felonies of the 2nd and 3rd degree.
According to a criminal complaint report, Sharon Police had received contact from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that suspect Nicholas Dano had downloaded child pornographic material onto two cell phones.
A search warrant was executed to obtain these phones, and police say they found over 400 images and 10 videos of what police believed to be child pornography on Dano's phone.
Eight of these images were officially identified and verified by the NCMEC.
Dano was arraigned via video in front of Judge Dennis Songer in Mercer County Court on Tuesday
Dano currently has four separate criminal cases pending in the Mercer County Court system which include charges of terroristic threats, aggravated harassment by a prisoner, two counts of invasion of privacy/loitering and prowling and child pornography.
Police say that Dano was also charged last year by the department in connection to several reported incidents of a "peeping Tom" in and around the Buhl Park area.
Dano is currently being held in the Mercer County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
