When the Governor mandated all non-essential businesses to close, the Eastwood Mall received over 5,000 calls from people concerned about the care for the fish in the aquarium.

The Eastwood Mall would like to assure all guests although the mall is closed, the fish in the aquarium are still being taken care of daily.

“Our fish are fed cod, shrimp, squid, salmon and I add vitamins,” said Aquarium Curator Barry Schecht. “They eat better than I do.”

Between the community wing tanks and the shark tank, over 100 fish are swimming in 2,000 gallons of fresh salt water that is changed monthly and filtered daily. The Eastwood Mall aquarium has been an attraction in Niles since 2007.
