One of the biggest milestones anybody can reach, the big 100! George Somogynari of Cortland celebrated his 100th birthday with the entire community on Sunday.

Somogynari, a World War II veteran welcomed the milestone birthday with his family, friends and a few others. Local police, the fire department and EMS came out with lights and sirens blaring to wish George a happy 100th.

George's daughter Janey Trask, couldn't have been more surprised by just how many cars showed up to celebrate.

"I was flabbergasted [by] how many people showed up," she said. "I thought maybe 20 to 30 people at the most, but they say we had 55 cars come through, which is awesome. It just blows my mind."

Somogynari says he's getting through tough times today how he always has throughout his 100 years, keeping his faith strong.

"Have faith in God," he said. "Go to church every Sunday I can, and I have a wonderful family."

A grateful and emotional Janey says her father has always been there.

"My dad has been my rock my entire life. He always said that he was going to be 100, and he did it. He made it. My brother, who lives in Tennessee, we had planned a party but unfortunately we can't have it. He's been a hard-worker, he's worked two jobs, he took care of our family, he's just been everything to me."
