Majority of Mahoning COVID-19 cases, deaths involve long term care facilities

For the past two days, 21 News has been pressing the Ohio Department of Health for some explanation as to why Mahoning County has more coronavirus-related deaths than any other county in the state.
21 News questioned whether Mahoning County had any so-called "hot spots."
On Sunday, a spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Health said after looking closer at the data, the majority of these cases and deaths seem to involve long term care facilities. No further information was given.
Mahoning has 15 deaths. Mahoning and Cuyahoga County continue to go back and forth with the most deaths. Cuyahoga currently has 14.

Statewide, there are 4,043 confirmed cases with 119 deaths as of April 5.
