Giant Eagle has established a web page that the grocery store chain says lists stores where employees have tested positive for coronavirus.

A spokesperson for Giant Eagle announced on Saturday that workers at a Pittsburgh area Giant Eagle and a Brunswick, Ohio had tested positive for COVID-19, acknowledging that more cases are likely to follow.

As of 6 am Sunday, March 29, 2020, Giant Eagle has added four more Pennsylvania stores to the list.

They include:

  • Pine Creek Giant Eagle - PA
  • Robinson Market District - PA
  • Brunswick Center Road GetGo - OHIO
  • New Kensington Giant Eagle - PA
  • North Huntingdon Giant Eagle - PA
  • Altoona Giant Eagle - PA

The most up-to-date list of Giant Eagle and GetGo stores may be found at www.gianteagle.com/store-cleansing

The list gives the location of the store, the date of the confirmed test, the date when the affected employee was last in the store and the current status of the store.

The site is updated in real-time as information becomes available, according to Giant Eagle.

Affected stores will be removed from the list five days after they have been sanitized and reopened, barring further positive tests.

Giant Eagle says it is also taking the following safety measures to protect employees and customers:

  • Installing plexiglass and social distancing floor indicators in its Giant Eagle, Market District and GetGo locations
  • A variety of sanitization efforts that include having employees clean their specific work areas several times a day and dedicating some employees to sanitize door handles and other high-touch areas throughout the store.
  • Updating store hours to align shopper traffic with sanitization and restocking efforts

Effective Sunday, March 29, all Giant Eagle and Market District stores will close at 9 p.m. each evening. Opening hours will remain at 7 a.m., with the 6 a.m. hour reserved Monday through Wednesday for those age 60 and older, differently-abled or immune-compromised.

Similarly, GetGo has adjusted operating hours at many of its locations, depending on the needs of its individual communities. GetGo customers may visit www.GetGoCafe.com/store-locator to learn the operating hours of their neighborhood location.
