Youngstown Police are investigating an incident where officials say a man died after jumping from a bridge following a car accident.
The incident occurred Saturday around 5:30 a.m on the Himrod Avenue Expressway near Williamson.
According to the coroner's office, the victim was a 47 year-old-man.
According to the police report, paramedics said they were dispatched to the area in response to a single-car crash.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, they say they observed a male running from the crashed car and jump over the bridge onto the train tracks below.
Police say there was no one else in the car compelling the man to jump from the bridge.
According to police, the man's vehicle had struck the guardrail on Himroad Avenue Expressway and then struck a wall at least twice before coming to a stop.
The man was transported to St. Elizabeths hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
