Youngstown's fire chief says it could be another couple weeks until Station #12 on the city's northeast side reopens.
Council approved a $60-thousand payment for structural repairs during Wednesday night's council meeting.
City leaders temporarily shut down the station in late January because they said the aging infrastructure of the floor could not hold the weight of a modern-day fire truck.
Repairs have already started but are not yet finished.
"The mean thing was waiting on the steel to get there, and if the steel gets there by this week, I'm just guessing, but I would say another week and a half, two weeks, Station #12 should be squared away," said Fire Chief Barry Finley.
Engineers also checked the structural integrity of fire station #6 and #15. Both of these checked out okay but were designed in a similar way that officials wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any problems in the near future.
The cost of the repairs to Station #12 has already been worked into the 2020 budget.
