Youngstown native and Green Party candidate Dario Hunter announced his running mate Monday.

Hunter chose Darlene Elias, a Holyoke, Massachusetts woman, as his vice-presidential candidate.

The choice comes following an 81 percent win in the Green Party's Minnesota Caucus.

Darlene Elias is a social worker and probation officer and is the Green Party's former co-chair.

According to Elias, "I'm running because the voice of the people is absent from our current political system. We need to do what it takes to get real system change."

Hunter noted that it was important to pick Elias now, saying they need to be ready earlier than Democrats and Republicans.
