Six abandoned puppies are being brought back to good health thanks to a local rescue organization.

Someone dropped the puppies off in a box at the Habitat Restore on Youngstown-Poland Road in Struthers on Saturday.

A person from the store found them and called Every Dog Matters Rescue in Boardman.

The puppies were stacked on top of each other in the box and were covered in feces and urine, according to Amanda Hamilton, the event coordinator at Every Dog Matters Rescue. A note inside the box asked for someone to find them a good home.

Hamilton said all the dogs had worms, and one was so dehydrated that she had to be rushed to the vet. She adds the dog is doing OK now, and they're all bouncing back quickly.

The rescue organization needs to take all the dogs to the vet and get them a bit healthier before they can start placing them in foster-to-adopt homes.

They need donations. If you'd like to help out, you can find more information on the Every Dog Matters Rescue's Facebook page
